Your child will receive a variety of instruction during the year. There will be whole group instruction, small group and independent work. The type of instruction will vary to the needs of the student.Throughout the year, students will be reading from the textbook and novels.There will be a variety of activities to accompany the readings.Students need to make sure their book, practice book, notebook, folder and composition notebook are at school daily.Listed below are a few possible examples of novels that might be read this year.

Grading will occur on a variety of activities.Class participation, class work, homework, quizzes, test, projects and morning work.Grades will variety on the assignment.An example is morning work is worth 2 points while a vocabulary sheet is worth 14 points. Students will have reading log every night for homework.The student is to read for at least 30 minutes, complete their log sheet and obtain a signature of an adult who witnessed the student reading.The student needs to bring this reading log signed everyday.
Assignments are to be completed and turned in on time.Students are permitted to correct any assignment for a better grade.Students need to put their correct answers with explanation on another sheet of paper.This must be resubmitted with the original assignment.If the original answers has been removed or lost, the assignment will not be graded again.An average of the two assignments will then be entered into progress book.
